Lies of P Director Teases New DLC Music and Concept Art in Anniversary Letter
Jiwon Choi, the director behind 2023’s hit action title Lies of P, has shared a sneak peek at the upcoming DLC, offering fans a fresh piece of music and concept art as part of a heartfelt director’s letter celebrating the game’s first anniversary. Set in the dark, steampunk-inspired city of Krat, Lies of P is a Soulslike game inspired by the classic tale of Pinocchio. Its blend of haunting Victorian aesthetics and punishing combat quickly made it one of the standout Soulslike titles of 2023, with many calling it the best Souls game not developed by FromSoftware, the creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Although DLC for Lies of P was confirmed shortly after its release, with a piece of concept art showing the protagonist aboard a crashed ship under the Northern Lights, updates have been sparse since. Fans were eagerly awaiting news, especially after a Neowiz earnings report from earlier this year hinted at a second-half 2024 release window for the DLC. However, the team has remained largely quiet—until now.
In his anniversary letter shared on Twitter, Choi expressed gratitude to the development teams, including Nough and Round8 Studio, and reassured fans that work on the Lies of P DLC and its sequel is still ongoing. While no major revelations about the DLC were made, Choi offered fans a special treat: two links to new content. One led to a new song from the DLC, featuring a haunting combination of piano, violin, and concertina, evoking the same eerie, melancholic atmosphere that Lies of P is known for, though with a lighter, almost whimsical touch.
The second link showcased new concept art for the DLC. The art depicts the protagonist standing in a snowy fishing village at night, with a lighthouse towering in the distance. This snowy coastal setting lines up with earlier concept art and teases an environment unlike anything in the base game, which featured no snow-covered areas. Fans are already speculating about the new challenges and locations the DLC could introduce.
As for the highly anticipated Lies of P sequel, Choi’s letter briefly mentioned its development but provided no new details. However, a recent job listing from Neowiz hinted that the sequel might feature an open-world structure, though this remains unconfirmed.
While the DLC was initially expected in late 2024, it seems unlikely to hit that window. Fans are hopeful that more concrete information about the release date will be shared before the year’s end, but for now, the newly revealed music and concept art offers a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.
