Bye Sweet Carole, the upcoming horror game from indie studios Little Sewing Machine and Meangrip Studios, has caught attention for its art style inspired by classic Disney animations. Created by Chris Darril, known for the Remothered series, this game combines hand-drawn visuals with a dark fairytale narrative.

Players follow young Lana Benton, who embarks on a journey to find her missing friend, Carole Simmons, within the eerie Bunny Hall orphanage. The story takes Lana through unsettling territories, including a haunting kingdom called Corolla, where sinister forces like Mr. Kyn and Velenia the owl await, alongside colonies of terrifying “tar bunnies.”

The recent trailer, revealed at Indie Horror Showcase 2024, showcases gameplay mechanics like transforming into a rabbit for platforming, hiding from enemies, and facing supernatural threats that emerge at midnight. The game’s unique art style draws clear inspiration from Disney classics like Alice in Wonderland and Snow White, with vintage-inspired character designs reminiscent of early 1900s America. Visual nods to Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast also enrich its storybook-like atmosphere, blending childhood nostalgia with intense horror.

Slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S, Bye Sweet Carole is already creating buzz as a standout title with its mix of nostalgic art and chilling gameplay.
