The critical response to The Rings Of Power has been highly positive. It premiered last week on Amazon Prime. After the Rotten Tomatoes audience score was revealed, Amazon took drastic measures to reduce the negative reviews.

It is generally agreed that the prequel is a magnificent homage to the scale that J R R Tolkien gave this fantasy world that captured the hearts of so many fans. It seems that the showrunners forgot to include Jeff Bezos’s notes on the scripts. This appears to have been a good thing for the overall quality of The Rings Of Power. Fair dos.

However, many viewers were not happy with how the $250 million the CEO gave to the production. One said that the TV series had replaced Tolkien’s LOTR with something bland. Another exclaimed, “Pathetic writing and serious acting, bad CGI, but good elsewhere, virtue signaling like the Valar have not seen.” I believe the “virtue signaling” is the existence of non-white people in fictional fantasy races that caused unnecessary controversy before the show’s release. Tolkien stated that Harfoots were “browner in the skin” and that dark-skinned Elves were present in drafts for The Silmarillion. Also, get. Over. It.
