Detroit: Become Human is a 2018 adventure game developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The plot centers around three androids: Kara (Valorie Curry), an autonomous android who escapes her owner to explore her newly gained intelligence and protect a young girl; Connor (Bryan Dechart), an android hunter; and Markus (Jesse Williams), dedicated to liberating other androids from servitude. Detroit: Become Human is inspired by Quantic Dream’s 2012 technology demonstration Kara; Curry reprised her title role.
To research its setting, Quantic Dream visited Detroit Michigan for research purposes. David Cage consulted artificial intelligence specialists over two years to complete this script and build an engine specific for it, casting over 300 actors before starting filming/animation process. Philip Sheppard, Nima Fakhrara and John Paesano served as composers respectively for Kara, Connor, and Markus roles – it was first released for PlayStation 4 on May 2018 while Microsoft Windows version will come later.
