The Director of ‘God Of War” prefers ‘The Witcher’ 3 to his own game, calls it “F***ing Brilliant”
It’s hard to deny that 2018’s God Of War was a masterpiece.
Director Cory Barlog and his team at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio completely reinvented Kratos for a new generation in and bold and brilliant adventure that didn’t retcon or ignore the older games. It instead used the previous stories to drive the story’s heavy themes of violence, parenthood and dealing with the consequences. It’s really inspiring stuff.
God Of Waris awesome and we cannot wait to see more. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is another great option. CD Projekt RED’s highly acclaimed RPG, God Of War is similar to . It follows an older hero who has grown tired of their violent lifestyles and wants to do the best thing for their child.
Of course, there are many major differences between them. The Witcher 3 is a vast open-world adventure, filled with sidequests as well as dozens of hours worth of content. God Of War is a simpler game that has a clearer storyline and fewer side quests. Is that better or worse? It doesn’t make them better or worse.
Even so, Cory Barlog clearly prefers The Witcher 3 to his own masterpiece. The director responded to a Twitter fan who joked that CD Projekt RED’s RPG was the better title. He said: “Yeah that’s because that’s f***ing amazing.” Barlog obviously is proud of God Of War. But you can’t blame him if he wants to praise another game rather than insist that the one he made was better.
