Joel’s Last Of Us Part 1 Players Find New, Heartbreaking Details
It’s the start of a new week, and I’m sure I can guess what you did with your weekend. The last of us has finally been released and received rave reviews. Our review stated that “fans will find no better way of experiencing this story” and that Part 1 has received rave reviews. Last week, fans spotted a Last of Us Part II Character hidden in the background. Now, another player has discovered a heartbreaking secret about Joel.
Twitter user Cydjarin noticed the detail in the game’s intro. Using the game’s photo mode, a player zoomed in to Joel’s bedside. This revealed a variety of medications. Joel may have been taking anti-anxiety drugs and tablets for his gastric ulcer and blood pressure.
Warning! Major prologue spoilers ahead. Anyone who has played The Last of Us, Part 1 or I will know how tragic this prologue is. Joel’s young daughter Sarah dies in his arms after the Cordyceps outbreak. Joel would have lost his anti-anxiety medication at a crucial time. He grieved for Sarah and dealt with the intense emotions of the epidemic.
The discovery was shared on Reddit. Chazoid said, “Y’all think he suffered from wild depression swings and had to stop taking his anxiety medication forcibly?” This could be a reference to Joel’s days as a hunter. Divulci said, “His little girl died in his arms, and society collapsed due to a world-ending pandemic. Then he returned and lived for another 25 years.” He sounds humble when he says he struggled for years with survival. It is a monster.” I wonder what secrets Part 1 may be hiding.
