Krut: The Mythic wings is a fast-paced, hack-and-slash, side-scrolling platformer. It’s based on a 2018 Thai CG animated feature film, “Krut” (The Himmaphan Warriors), Southeast Asian mythology that depicts the adventures of a Garuda fighter on the enchanted island, Himmaphan. The Ogre army invaded the Garuda land, a world filled with magic and mystical creatures.
The Garuda army was defeated, and the capital was finally destroyed. After the destruction and despair, a badly wounded warrior was found on an enchanted, mysterious island called Himmaphan. A mysterious figure approached him and gave him the Mythic Wings, a powerful artefact. Legend has it that a legendary hero used the Mythic Wings to bring peace to the land during the Great War hundreds of years ago. The new adventure is now.
Your Krut commander Veera moves from one side to the other and fights each enemy. Every 50 meters, enemies appear. You can do a bit of platforming, and your Mythical wings will allow you to jump high or fly with your extraordinary power. But fighting is the main focus. Your character has a sword that can be used to make light or heavy attacks, stun attacks, roll, jump (double), and create powerful combos if you continue to attack. Killed enemies drop spirit.
You can upgrade your character by using spirit. You can choose from eight upgrades, including more health, a better attack, or an extra life. You will need spirit to unlock save points. Although you can beat every enemy, you will not have the spirit to unlock save points or upgrade your character. This forces you to kill all the creatures that roam the beautiful world.
There are many enemies to choose from, so you won’t have much fun if you don’t enjoy fighting. It is impossible to kill all enemies in one hit. Every fight requires a lot of attacking and evading. After you have killed a lot of smaller enemies, you will be confronted with a boss at the mid-stage and a final boss at the end. These bosses are well-drawn and large. However, they are not very interesting in terms of boss fights. They are difficult to pass, and you will be shown a brief dialogue scene if you defeat the boss at the end.
