Red Dead Devs Reported that they’re not making a crypto game, but might one day

Yesterday was the Gamescom Opening Night Live. A game called Everywhere was shown. After it was revealed that developer Build a Rocket Boy was hiring to create a Blockchain department, people naturally assumed that the game that Geoff Keighley showcased was riddled with crypto nonsense. The developer said that Everywheredoesn’t have NFTs or any other blockchain technology. However, the company doesn’t rule out the possibility of it being included in future games.

The developers stated that these positions were “research” positions and not ones that are actively implementing blockchain Everywhere. According to the statement, developers “don’t like to dismiss new technologies simply because others haven’t found a solution yet.”

This description is slightly odd. It states Everywhereis being built on Unreal Engine 5 but not blockchain. However, Unreal Engine 5 is a game engine that can be used with blockchain technology. We reached out to Build A Rocket Boy to clarify. The studio is currently looking into crypto shit but may decide not to use it in their research. The team appears to be stating (albeit in an odd manner) that EEverywherewon’tinclude NFTs or other blockchain technology. It’s best to monitor what the company does in future.
