The previous Super Monkey Ball games had players with a limited number of lives. This added to the level of pressure. The live system maintained the arcade-style feel of the games. According to a tweet by the Super Monkey BallTwitter, the live system has been removed. This seems to have caused some fan outrage.

Recently, @SuperMonkeyBall tweeted that it would be eliminating the lives system in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania to try and make things easier overall.
