The Disney Plus Series Daredevil’ Is A Continuation Of Netflix’s Show
Disney Plus is currently developing a brand new Daredevil series. It sounds like it will pick up from the Netflix series.
Variety reports Covert affairs creators Matt Corman, and Chris Ord have been attached to write and executive producer the new series. The series will see Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
Cox was the original crime-fighting lawyer in Netflix Daredevil for three seasons. is technically part of the MCU. However, the “street level” Netflix Marvel shows have never properly referenced the events in the movies.
Fans were alarmed that Daredevil ended after an excellent third season. The rights to the character were returned to Disney. There were concerns that Charlie Cox might be replaced by someone else in the role.
It seems that this is not true. Cox was the official MCU debutant as Matt Murdock, in Spider-Man: No Way Home late last season, just weeks after Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin appeared as the main antagonist of Hawkeye.
Fans hoped that it would be only a matter of time before a new Daredevil series would be announced, with the characters now fully integrated into Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (and Netflix shows moving over to Disney Plus).
It looks as though that’s what we will get. Disney has not yet confirmed the news. It sounds like the project remains in development but it is undeniably exciting for Netflix fans. It’s hard to imagine that a Disney Plus Daredevil series will be as gritty or as entertaining as Netflix’s. But, Charlie Cox is The Man Without Fear, which is a very good thing indeed.
Murdock is likely to appear in other MCU projects prior to his own series. Most likely, we will see him in He Hulk: Attorney at Law or Echo. This series will pick up from the events of Hawkeye, and solve that shocking Kingpin cliffhanger.
