Larian acknowledges that this is “something players have requested,” adding later in the blog post that the new alternative resolution to the story of Karlach is intended to be “fiery emotional, touching, and allow the character the closure she deserves.”The majority of the article will focus on the debate that’s been going around the gaming community concerning the alleged “cut content” dataminers have discovered looking through the game’s files.
Larian claims that much of the data isn’t referring to “cut content” instead, it’s referring to items which weren’t made available due to specific reasons like bugs, or not meeting Studio’s standards or perhaps not part of the overall vision of the game.
In particular, with regard to the endings, Larian explained: “One reason we cut down the epilogue was because we were worried that the final cinematics would become lengthy and detracting from the dramatic nature of the whole experience. However, it’s clear that not everyone likes what we’ve done! Therefore, we’re planning to take action to change the situation.”
The post’s end was a statement from Studio X stated:
We’re sure there’s plenty to play through in Baldur’s gate 3 and in the city itself that it can run for weeks for a period of time. However, that doesn’t mean Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have changes just like any other game does. It’s important to remember that the game was designed long before the game’s release with the intention of creating a fun game to play. It wasn’t intended for us to end development in a hurry.
This update was also able to see Larian reveal that the third act of the game is the primary focus for the patches 2’s enhancements to performance that is what it announced on Twitter “is nearing completion.”
