Cyberpunk 2077 surpasses half a million positive reviews on Steam
Cyberpunk 2077 is the comeback kid of gaming. It’s no secret that CD Projekt RED’s ambitious title was released in an abysmal state. Who would’ve thought that here, in 2023, we’d celebrate the game reaching over 500,000 positive reviews on Steam.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to be the game’s first and only expansion, as CDPR devs will then shift focus over onto the next instalment in The Witcher series. Of course, that’s not the end of the franchise. We have a sequel on the way, codenamed Project Orion. Cyberpunk 2077 is also set to expand on its star-studded cast with Phantom Liberty, introducing Idris Elba as Solomon Reed.
It’s so refreshing to see a game with untapped potential finally actually reach that potential. Phantom Liberty will introduce a number of quality of life upgrades and new gameplay mechanics – many of which are also coming to the base game in the free Update 2.0. As such, the base game is only about to get better, but it’s already drawing in positive reviews en masse.
As pointed out by Reddit user simar6565, Cyberpunk 2077 has surpassed 500,00 positive reviews on Steam. To be precise, at the time of writing, it has 557,527. Upon release, IGN urged players to “get a refund if possible”, while PushSquare deemed the game to be “blatantly unfinished” and “crippled by countless bugs and unforgivable crashing issues”.
Clearly, Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way.One Steam user wrote, “Has improved a lot since the start, would recommend picking it up now,” while another added, “It’s so much better than when it launched, easily one of my favourite games now.” One review read, “I love everything about this game! I can walk for hours aimlessly when its bad weather outside. I love the NPCs, their reactions, the freedom, the realness it also has… I love everything! I can sit down for hours and hours and hours playing – there’s so much content – worth every penny. Masterpiece.”
