Destiny 2 Issue Is Causing Players Pain

Yesterday saw Bungie finally launch the midseason patch for Destiny 2, following unexpected server issues which caused downtime throughout the day. But fans noticed a number of new issues after updating: broken mods, activities such as King’s Fall raid crashing the game, quest progress being locked. One issue most frequently-reported on Twitter involved Destiny 2 audio playback issues.

Evidently, many players are experiencing issues with high-pitched sounds in Destiny 2. These high-pitched tones appear as crackly and distorted audio – creating an unpleasant audio experience on either console or PC. Reports on Twitter reveal some sounds may play too loudly while other effects such as Hunter Shatter Dive or Tormentor Spawn Effects from Root of Nightmares cannot even be heard at all!

Some users have reported that setting their FPS to 30 has resolved audio issues temporarily; although, that won’t solve anything long term. We wouldn’t be surprised to learn if Destiny 2’s frame rate has something to do with this audio issue as various bugs such as unintentionally high enemy damage have previously been linked with frame rates.

Bungie has addressed various issues since their recent update, such as unwarranted Crucible and Gambit suspensions, but their Bungie Help account has yet to address a potentially-fatal audio glitch in Destiny 2. Perhaps we will hear more in next week’s TWAB post; or at any rate, Destiny 2 continues its painful path, seemingly every week bringing new bugs or unexpected downtime into play.

Have you experienced problems with the audio in Destiny 2 since its midseason update? Tell us all about it below in the comments section!
