Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal were once owned by Square Enix. They were recently purchased by Embracer Group.

In May, the original deal included both studios as well their IP such as Tomb Raider or Ex as well as less active franchises such as Thief or Legacy of Kain. Crystal Dynamics posted a message on the Tomb Raider site (via VGC) that the deal was completed and that the company now has the rights for Legacy of Kain and Tomb Raider. This is good news because the studio is currently working to create a new game featuring Lara Croft.

“We are excited to inform you that Crystal Dynamics has taken control of several game franchises–including TOMB RAIDER and Legacy of Kain–from the games’ previous owner, Square Enix Limited.
