Elden Ring streamer takes on a randomly generated version of the game using a Bop-It.
Elden Ring players have been eagerly awaiting the announcement that Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is finally underway, and now can bask in its warm glow.
For those who aren’t yet engaged in a celebratory dance or detective work to discover clues about the DLC, now is an ideal opportunity for an intense training regimen that’ll refresh and sharpen your skills before the expansion’s arrival.
Are you looking for a way to spice up your boss battle preparation sessions but don’t feel comfortable trying out first person viewpoint, using only one finger control of your character, or dealing with an upside down version of The Lands Between? Take a look at streaming legend Swoop Douglas’ recent challenge run for some inspiration!
Are you confident enough in Elden Ring to use a Bop-It and come out on top?
The streamer, who previously managed to beat the vanilla game using an audio-based controller as a controller, decided to take on an even greater challenge during his most recent stream by using Thefifthmatt’s mods to completely randomize several aspects of the game – including fog gate destinations, items and enemies.
At the start of the broadcast, Swoop Douglas revealed that after using his toy controller to play through the game before, switching back to a regular controller in order to ensure randomiser mods worked properly felt strange to him; it was like playing a FromSoft game for the first time ever in his life!
After setting up his trusty Bop-It Extreme 2 and creating a character named ‘Old Gross Man,’ the streamer plunged into the chaotic run, briefly pausing near the beginning to compile a flow chart that would help him navigate through the confusing worldspace and assess his randomised loadout.
Soon, Douglas found himself facing off against some formidable foes, such as two spinning Cemetery Abductor Virgins whom he felled on his second try for some useless fabric trousers, and the legendary Draconic Tree Sentinel after what Douglas described as “way too many attempts”.
His final major obstacle was Magma Wyrm Makar, who’d been transported to the area usually occupied by Margit, the Fell Omen. Unfortunately, they proved too formidable for the streamer to overcome before having to call it quits for the day.
