UPDATE June 18, 2018: Leak suggests Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be heading to the Epic Games Store.
Final Fantasy VII: Remake was one of the most anticipated games of the year. This is not surprising considering the success of the original. However, the PS4 version was a remake. Is there any chance it will be available on PC?
This is all we know about Final Fantasy VII: Remake‘s version, and whether it’s coming to.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was launched on PS4 on April 10, and we know that it’s a timed exclusive for Sony’s console for one year.
Square Enix is not yet mentioning a PC version, but it is possible to find it on Steam.
A collection of January data leak elements found in the code of a previously leaked Final Fantasy VII Remake demo suggested that a PC port might be possible.
It is also worth noting that Final Fantasy XV arrived on Steam and PC one year and a quarter after its console release. This proves that Square Enix is open to bringing the titles to other platforms.
Other Final Fantasy titles such as the original Final Fantasy VII and the remastered version have also been made available on PC and Steam.
A “Thank You” video was posted to the PlayStation YouTube channel. It features gameplay that was recorded on PC. This is as close as we have to an official confirmation of the Final Fantasy VII remake coming on Steam.
Motomu Toriyama, co-director, was also scheduled for an appearance at the Final Fantasy VII Remake Orchestra World Tour concert on February 13, promising to make an announcement about the title.
A Reddit leak to an Epic Games Store data tracker indicates that Final Fantasy VII Remake is indeed on its way to the storefront.
Square Enix also introduced Kingdom Hearts to Epic’s online storefront earlier in the year. We could see another Epic exclusive if FFVII Remake follows this pattern.
Square Enix confirmed that FFVII Remake would be released for PC on 16 December. It will be only available for purchase on Epic Games Store at this time.
Dataminers discovered in December that Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s configuration file contained a Steam App ID. This Steam ID was added to Steam’s backend before the Epic Games Store’s backend.
This is not an official confirmation. However, it’s another clue that FFVII Remake will arrive on Steam in 2022. Epic exclusivity lasts 12 months.
