Grand Theft Auto Mission Pack #2: London 1960 (commonly known as Grand Theft Auto: London 61) is a mission pack released by Rockstar Games in digital format on June 1, 1999. It was developed by Rockstar Canada. The third game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise takes place eight years prior to the events of London 1969.
In general, it was felt that this expansion did not improve upon the original Grand Theft Auto. Jeff Gerstmann of GameSpot said that the gta was “still quite fun,” but that “it really does not hold a candle to the original three GTA cities.” Ron Dulin from GameSpot also found “nothing new” in Grand Theft Auto: London 1968 except for cosmetic changes, and “all gameplay issues [from the base game] are still present.
“He criticized the lackluster development, citing “poor control, frustrating designs, and mediocre graphic”. Eurogamer’s reviewer said that the game is not very attractive.
The graphics are pixelated, and the scrolling is not smooth. Jay Boor, in a positive IGN review, noted that GTA London 1969 had 36 new missions and 30 new vehicles, but most importantly it offered unlimited criminal possibilities. He did admit that the “open gameplay” didn’t allow you to do anything other than the original GTA.
