Hangar 13 Announces Officially Long-Rumored Mafia Game
Earlier this year, Kotaku Hangar 13 was working to create a new mafia game in the wake of Haden Blackman’s departure. Now, the studio and publisher 2K Games have made it public.
This announcement was made as part of the 20th Anniversary Retrospective Interview with series veterans General manager Roman Hladik, Head of Production Media Director Tomas Hrebicek, and Game Director Alex Cox. Although the interview is long, it covers their experience working on the series over the years. In the end, Hladik confirms that the new game is being developed but is still some way off.
Hladik states, “I’m pleased to confirm that we have begun work on an all-new Mafia Project.” It’s still a while away, so we cannot share any more information now. However, we are excited to continue working on the beloved franchise and entertain our players with new stories.
Kotaku reports that the new game will be a prequel for the original Mafia Trilogy and will be developed in Unreal Engine 5.
