Netflix Resident Evil Series Announced Cancelled after a Single Season
If your show doesn’t take over the world within the first few weeks, it will fail in today’s data-driven streaming environment. While I don’t know what Netflix expected of the Resident EvilTV series that debuted in July, I do not believe the horror-based show met them. According to a Deadline report, the show won’t be getting another season.
This isn’t a shock. The show’s premiere was in the wake of Stranger Things’ newest season. This could have been a rising tide lifting all boats or people cancelling their subscriptions after they finish Stranger Things. Although it was a gamble, I don’t know who was playing the dice or what they were hoping for.
It was intended to have a more comprehensive cast than Paul W.S., who is so popular. Anderson’s films did well, and the acting was highly praised. However, the complicated narrative prevented the Netflix adaptation from gaining a significant audience.
Capcom continues to plan for a Mega Man live-action movie, also produced by Netflix. Castlevania producer Adi Shahkar is reportedly still working on a Devil May Cry series.
