Prototype, a video game, is an action-packed adventure in which Alex Mercer has superpowers. He can turn his hands into weapons, such as sharp blades or shields. Alex is a composite made of biomaterial that has the ability to change shape and create weapons. He can also absorb memories of other living creatures and even take their form.
The game was developed by Radical Entertainment. It was originally expected to be released in 2008. However, there have been many delays. Finally, the date was set to June 2009. Although there had initially been speculation about whether the game would include multiplayer features in the final version they confirmed it won’t.

In the VGA 2010, he announced a follow-up, where he played James Heller whose task is to murder Alex Mercer. Prototype 2 was released in 2012. Prototype’s PC version had an initial PEGI+16 rating, but its creators chose to use the PEGI+12 age for the game because of the quality.
This game puts us into the shoes of Alex Mercer – a genetically mutated man with no memories of his past. He is determined to regain these memories and find out what has happened. In New York in 2009, the protagonist is caught up in an all-out battle between an army of American soldiers and an unknown mutant horde, caused by an epidemic of a mutagen virus.
Alex is equipped with a variety of powerful shape-shifting abilities, likely generated by the virus which haunts New York’s streets, making it possible to alter his body both for defense and attack.
