PS Plus free games for May 2023 have recently made an unexpectedly early debut online and… it’s pretty shocking.
As promised, PlayStation Plus offerings for May have leaked ahead of their official reveal later today – and as expected they have proven rather disappointing.
Let’s revisit April first: you only have a few more days left to grab this month’s essential tier offerings, which include Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Tails of Iron and day one release Meet Your Maker (there is also free extra DLC available for Sackboy that makes picking it up worthwhile!). Additionally, extra and premium tier drops added sixteen games (Kena: Bridge of Spirits being well received among them); we know Humanity will land on extra in May; billbin-kun has leaked its essential tier line-up as well!

Essential subscribers have reported being offered three disappointing titles this month: GRID Legends (PS4/5), Chivalry II (PS4/5), and Descenders (PS4/5). I warned you they would likely disappoint; so let me quickly go over each. Let’s begin with GRID Legends; developed and published by Codemasters last year, it scored an admirable 77 on Metacritic rating system; featuring over 130 tracks to race on. But for anyone not into racing games there may not be much else here for you here besides racing; see my other picks as I will dove into each selection GRID Legends could make up its share!
Torn Banner Studios released Chivalry II back in 2021 as an action game focused on medieval multiplayer hack and slack gameplay with third and first person modes available, available as both third person or first person play from either third or first person perspectives and boasting an 82 on Metacritic score – it certainly ranks highly with my colleagues here, one even exclaimed to me just now, saying the title ‘is very fun. But whether its mass appeal can reach PS Plus remains to be seen!
Descenders is an action Herk bike-riding game in which players ride downhill bicycles in order to cycle their way to victory and reach score 75. What an impressive lineup! Although, as with any leak, take this news with a grain of salt; I expect confirmation later today of this list of games!
