About Shard of Spring
SSI released 2 PC conversions of the classic Apple II RPGs in 1986 and 1987. Both games are solid RPGs that follow the “conventional” model (i.e. Top-down view with lots of loot, monsters and bosses. This emphasizes level progression and the typical “kill the big foozle!” endgame.
The Shard Of Spring, a crystal that grants eternal springtime, keeps the blessed island of Ymros at ease. The evil sorceress Siriadne stole the sacred shard, and now you must get it back. Your world has been destroyed by hunger, famine, and despair. Everybody now wants you to step up and accept the challenge.
Shard of Spring can be described as a role-playing video game in which players create and build a group of adventurers from the traditional races of humans and elves. There are two main classes: wizard and warrior. Each class is specialized in different skills (such elemental proficiency). Text menus represent towns; the majority of the action occurs in the dungeons where enemy parties fight in turn-based combat.
