Sonic & Knuckles Collection Overview:
Sonic & Knuckles Collection contains almost identical games to the original releases. The game has a selection menu that lists the titles it contains. The Sonic & Knuckles Collection selection menu is displayed when the Sonic & Knuckles Collection is started. The majority of the original music has been faithfully converted into MIDI format. Users can choose between General MIDI or FM MIDI formats. Sonic 3’s music tracks include those from Carnival Night Zone.
The Launch Base Zone, IceCap Zone, Knuckles’ theme and the Credits music were all replaced by entirely new tracks created from Sonic 3 prototypes. This could be because the tracks featured sampled sound effects incompatible with the MIDI standard. Sound cards at the time weren’t capable of playing these along with standard MIDI instruments. Another possibility is that the original tracks were composed by Michael Jackson and that they were later replaced due to legal reasons.
Sonic & Knuckles Collection pre-Installed
The soundtrack to IceCap Zone may have been changed due to its origins in Hard Times. This 1982 track was recorded by The Jetsons, an American rock band. Brad Buxer later worked on Sonic 3’s soundtrack. The game plays almost the same as its previous versions, apart from this musical difference. Despite my vague memories of Shadowrun Returns’ gameplay, I can tell you that it didn’t change much.
Combat is almost the same. Many character classes and skills are available, but the combat system is very simplified. The Matrix sequences remain the same tiresome, unchallenging gimmick. They were original. It isn’t easy to use the UI. The inventory system is almost non-existent. You can’t give items or supplies to your team members before the start of a mission.
