Sony acquires Savage Game Studios in an effort to expand its PlayStation Mobile Presence
Sony has bought a new company to support PlayStation Studios. However, it doesn’t appear like the acquisition will be for any games ending on PlayStation 5. This acquisition seems to be to get games onto your phone. Savage Game Studios has joined PlayStation’s first-party stable to “expand [its] communities.”
Herman Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios, posted on the PlayStation blog that the company’s efforts beyond the PlayStation console would not “in any way diminish our commitment towards the PlayStation community nor our passion for keeping making incredible single-player, narrative-driven experiences.” However, Savage Game Studios will continue to work on mobile games based on PlayStation franchises.
“Our mobile gaming efforts are similar to additive. We will provide more opportunities for people to interact with our content and strive to reach new audiences who may not be familiar with PlayStation or our games. Savage Game Studios has joined a new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. This division will be independent of our console development and will focus on innovative, on-the-the-go experiences that are based on existing PlayStation IP.
