SQUARE ENIX HAS AN ACTIVE CAUSE: A NEW GAME IN THE WORKS
Square Enix recently teased that a new Just Cause was in production with Summer Game Fest just around the corner. Avalanche Studios developed the Just Cause franchise. Just Cause 4 was released in December 2018.
Square Enix sold most of its west IPs to Embracer Group. You could be forgiven for thinking Square Enix forgot about Just Cause. There is still hope.
Could it be Just Cause 5?
Square Enix released its fiscal year investor briefing to the public a few hours ago (thanks, ResetEra). Atsushi and Yosuke Matsuda, SquarEnix’s chief accounting officer and president, review SquarEnix’s financial revenue within this document. They say tha” “the Just Cause franchisor will remain our “P” while that i” am “at work creating a new title for the franchise”.
We will not get ahead of ourselves, but we don’t do what Yosuke and Atsushi Matsuda meant by this brief statement. This could be Just Cause Mobile, displayed at the 2020 Game Awards. Square Enix announced in 2021 that Just Cause Mobile would be delayed. According to the Official Just Cause Mobile Twitter Account, there will be no further information until next year.
Just Cause is an action-adventure franchise that lets players battle through tornadoes, massive helicopters, sandstorms, and nuclear missiles. This open-world franchise is full of guns and grit. This franchise is highly praised because of its intense focus on mass destruction and mayhem. The series ended in 2018 with Just Cause 4, but there was a mobile announcement.
Summer Game Fest officially begins on June 9, 2022. The event will feature many announcements, including some from Square Enix. Perhaps we’ll even see Just Cause 5. Awe’ll
