Star Wars Jedi Survivor fans are delighted that Cal Kestis, the voice actor for Cal Kestis in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, has adopted the poncho meme trend.
Star Wars fans everywhere will be eagerly awaiting the next entry in Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi series when it hits stores later this month.
The follow-up to 2019’s Fallen Order promises plenty of new puzzles and mechanics, but part of its appeal lies in recognisable locations and characters from movies, shows, and games set in a distant galaxy.
Although Cal Kestis has only made brief appearances in Respawn’s game series thus far, he already enjoys widespread cheers whenever he appears on screen. Voice actor Cameron Monaghan recently earned himself some additional fame on Reddit by openly professing his admiration of ponchos.
How many ponchos do you plan to collect in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?
Their meme-based comedy was recently discussed on Reddit’s r/FallenOrder subreddit, started by Star_Wars_Dude who shared a clip of Monaghan taking to the stage during day three of Star Wars Celebration London and quickly turned discussion towards Wild West-style cloaks.
Many of their fellow jedi were delighted that Cameron has joined in on the meme-making, with user Met_Kay simply declaring: “What a dude!” makashiII_93 replied: “Who wants a poncho?” Gradz45 admitted: “I unironically do want some ponchos!”
Others were disappointed that, despite the actor’s best efforts to compel director Stig Asmussen to confirm if there would be ponchos in the new game, no such confirmation came about. ElectricOyster speculated: “I guess Stig didn’t want anything given away, but I don’t think it would’ve been a major deal if a cosmetic poncho had been included.”
User Stupid_Dummy_Idiot suggested: “Survivor should at least include the Bracca poncho as a callback. The best poncho in (Fallen Order) was actually its original poncho.”
On the other hand, user M6D_Magnum responded to Monaghan’s antics by saying: “Now I feel bad for always taking off my poncho in the first game because I didn’t like it – outlaw outfit all day every day, baby!”
User mrshel17 succinctly summarized both the clip and thread by saying: “The word poncho sounds so strange after hearing it 500 times in a row.”
