Overview Stones of Harlath
Players will be shipwrecked on the tiny island of Harlath. They will explore a semi-open world environment with multiple dungeons and battle foes. Finally, they will discover the nature of the curse over the island. Stones of Harlath VR is a first-person dungeon crawler.
The role of a battle mage will allow players to wield maces, shields, and swords, as well as cast powerful magic using runes that they draw with their controllers. Stones of Harlath was inspired by the classic dungeon crawlers but is enhanced by modern lighting and VR’s immersive nature.
Pixel-art textures, low-poly models, and high-quality lighting are some of the game’s visual features. There is also a mixture of 3D environments with 2D sprites.
Although the mechanics are very well designed, it initially feels like there is a single direction and a path you must follow; the more I played, the Map felt more open-world. You can go one way or another or cut straight through to fight monsters. Although the Dungeons have set paths, the Map is not. However, it feels like the game might need a Fast Travel System. The current size of the Map makes it perfect for just hopping around with Spells and other items.

Its art style is what gives it an advantage over its competitors. The magic system is my favorite feature. It feels like a classic dungeon crawler. OrbusVR was my favorite rune-based magic system. However, this is much better than its original release. Spell recognition is more reliable and consistent.
The magic system is flexible, but the game will put you in situations where you must balance your mage and swordplay. You’re encouraged not to spam either one. New games always have minor issues that need improvement, but this game is more about QoL.
For example, the Fire Places are very loud and are not connected to the Audio Settings. Even with the Dialogue Volume at its lowest, it still exceeds the Dialogue Audio I’ve ever experienced. This also applies to the Crypt that Friar Lyle sends you into.
