The Quarry Delays Online Multiplayer until July
The wait for Quarry is over. However, if you were hoping to play with a friend from another state, you will have to wait. Supermassive Games tweeted this morning that The Quarry’s online multiplayer game mode had been delayed. It will be available via an update by July 8, Which comes almost a month after the June 10 release. The movie and couch co-op modes will continue to be available in the game’s launch.
Supermassive was released shortly after the delay announcement. This overview shows some of the game’s mechanics.
The Quarry, a horror game by the same studio that created Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, was announced this March. The game is set at Hackett’s Quarry summer camp and features nine playable counsellors. Each can either live or die, depending on the player’s actions. The cast includes actors from Hollywood, such as Brenda Song, David Arquette and Justice Smith (who also appeared in Detective Pikachu).
The Quarry game features a variety of areas that the player can explore to discover clues or collectables. Thethe couch-co-op mode differs from the now-delayed multiplayer online m despite having a similar name. Each player gets one or more characters in couch co-op. Each player is given a character to choose from. Online multiplayer allows up to seven players to vote for their choices.
The Quarry also has a movie mode for those afraid of choices (like me). This mode allows players to choose the story’s ending, such as “Everyone Lives” or “Everyone Dies.” Players can also take the “Director’s Chair” and assign each character set of personality traits, which will guide their choices throughout the game. Since the online multiplayer is delayed until July 8, I will choose the “Everybody Lives” option as a coward. I don’t need to worry about anyone altering my characters’ fates because I’m a coward.
