The ‘The Last Of Us” Remake is Coming Much Sooner Than You Think

It has been two years since The Last of Us Part II was released and we don’t know what Naughty Dog has been up to since then. Officially anyway. Officially, they are very secretive at the kennel. However, the rumour mill has been busy of late.

Naughty Dog is believed to be working on a Factions-inspired full multiplayer title. However, the most pressing rumour concerns the imminent release of a possible remake of Last of Us. While it’s clear that this remake is dividing opinions, it seems to be coming sooner than expected.

The Last of Us is our favourite video game opening. Check out our other favourites below.

One reliable leaker claims that The Last of Us will launch on PlayStation 5 this winter. VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb stated that multiple sources told him that The Last of Us remake is coming this holiday.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard it. Robert Morrison, PlayStation Visual Arts animator, previously teased that Sony would have “some bangers this year,” which included a secret project he had been working on for between three and five years. People quickly figured that Morrison was referring to a remake of The Last of Us after excluding Ragnarok.

Jason Schreier, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier previously spoke out about the project. He claimed that the remake would get the realistic art style and cinematic direction of The Last of Us Part II. Fans also found LinkedIn profiles of Naughty Dog developers that mentioned an unannounced remake.

Although I generally recommend that you take all rumours with caution, given the volume of information and rumours at this point, it is possible to bet on this being true.

Many people have also questioned whether we even need a remake of the Last of Us. Evidently, “Need” can be debated. But what about want? It all depends on who you ask. It’s fine with me as a stan.

The Last of Us has a great game. But Part 2 adds better gameplay mechanics, cinematic direction, and *chef’s kiss*. You can still play the original if you don’t like it.
