Warzone 2 will not launch alongside Season 3 of Halo.
Warzone 2 fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a competitive playlist in Al Mazrah. The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to ranked modes; Modern Warfare 2 received one as part of its Season Two update and now it’s time for battle royale!
The Season Three update for Warzone 2 adds a wealth of new content, such as an all-new Battle Pass featuring the legendary Intervention sniper rifle and improvements to Ricochet anti-cheat which makes legitimate players invincible.
Warzone 2 ranked play is undoubtedly the most anticipated addition, though fans must wait a little longer as this mode won’t launch with the start of the new season.
Warzone 2 will remain unranked when Season 3 commences.
According to a Call of Duty Twitter post from April 5, Warzone 2’s ranked mode will not launch with the Battle Pass on April 12. Instead, players will have to wait until later in the season for competitive action.
As expected, some in the community are less than pleased with the announcement. “Ranked play later in season?” one disgruntled fan asked. Despite this slight delay, there’s some logic behind why they made this move.
Developers often rush a mode out in an effort to meet demand, but if Warzone 2 ranked is filled with bugs and glitches, frustrations will continue to mount. Thankfully, some fans support the delay: one player commented “I’d rather they work on fixing issues before releasing”
Warzone 2’s ranked playlist could potentially resurrect battle royale gaming. After Modern Warfare 2 emerged from an early slump, players now have the chance to compete on an all-new ladder determined by skill – providing something new to play for.
Infinity Ward and Raven Software have yet to announce an exact release date for Warzone 2, though there’s always the chance it could come as part of their mid-season update in a few weeks.
