Age of Wonders 4 Expansion Pass Plans Unveiled, Including Outfit Pack, Two Major DLCs and More
Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios today unveiled their post-launch plans for Age of Wonders 4, providing us with the first details about what expansion pass content can be expected over the course of this year.
Age of Wonders 4 Expansion Pass – Available Now!
All these items are included in Age of Wonders 4’s Premium Edition, though some may become available separately at some point later on.
Starting off is the Archmage Attire outfit pack, which unlocks a new set of clothing for race leaders at launch. You can either equip it as a whole or mix and match individual pieces with other clothing options.
Age of Wonders 4: Dragon Dawn, set for release in Q3 2023, is a content pack that gives players the power to lead reptilian minions, use draconic magic, and transform followers into dragon hybrids. It also comes with an all-new ruler type – a reptilian form – as well as new Tomes of Magic.
Age of Wonders 4’s expansion past also brings its first major DLC, Empires and Ashes, which explores the return of mortal empires, allowing us to “fuse magic and steel to unleash devastating war machines to drive Godir back into the Astral Sea.”
Released in Q4 2023, this expansion brings with it a whole new culture, Tomes of Magic, empire-building options and an entirely new story realm.
On April 2023, the developer revealed in a Reddit AMA that “firearm-like weapons and bombs will likely make a return in the 2nd DLC.”
Though it remains uncertain if this means Empires and Ashes or a second major DLC coming in 2024, having confirmation either way would be nice.
The Age of Wonders 4: Primal Fury Content Pack allows us to “create races using new beastly forms and a primal culture, as well as access Tomes of Magic that tap nature’s hidden powers and those from the Fey realms.”
When the map goes live in Q1 2024, new forms of wildlife, creatures, and abundant resources will be revealed across the region.
Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms will conclude the expansion pass in Q2 2024. This second major DLC “unlocks portals to realms filled with arcane marvels and unspeakable horrors,” giving us new monsters and racial forms to contend with as well as unexplored magical realms and locations to explore.
Age of Wonders 4 is now available to pre-order in both Standard and Premium editions – $49.99 for PS41.99/EUR49.99, while the latter costs $89.99, PS74.99, or EUR89.99.
Preorders grant access to Aric Rex, the Tigran High King leader, along with his Lion Plate armor, Imperial Cape, and Athlan Crown items.
On May 2, 2023, the 4X strategy game is scheduled to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
