Apex Legends Heirloom Guide – How to Unlock Ash’s Heirloom
We’ve officially reached the halfway point in Apex Legends Season 16, which means it’s time for another event: “Sun Squad.” This one is all about relaxation and spending a beach day with the legends. However, it isn’t all fun and games as Sun Squad introduces an all-new game mode, cosmetics, and another heirloom for players to collect: Ash’s “Strongest Link” nunchucks which will cost some real money if you want them outright. Here is how to unlock Ash’s heirloom both during and after Sun Squad:
How to Acquire Ash’s Heirloom in Apex Legends:
Unfortunately, Apex Legends still only provides two ways to earn Ash’s heirloom: during the Sun Squad event where you must purchase each cosmetic item in the event tab via Sun Squad Event Packs. Each pack guarantees you only one cosmetic from the event, but there will never be a duplicate. Plus, each pack has an increased chance for base legendary tier items – so purchasing 24 loot boxes could unlock Ash’s heirloom! You can buy Event Packs either in groups of 10 for 7,000 Apex Coins or individually for 700 Apex Coins each.
According to the numbers, you would need to purchase $160 USD in Apex Coins to buy all the Event Packs. That assumes two sets of ten and then four individual packs at 700 Coins each. You could reduce this cost slightly by purchasing bundles in the Sun Squad event store; however, this store usually caters more towards people looking for specific legend skins rather than the entire suite. If you don’t want all these loot boxes, your only other option is opening Apex Packs.
Apex Legends Ash Heirloom
Unfortunately, this situation is not ideal. Heirloom Shards can only be earned after opening 500 Apex Packs and have a very slim chance of dropping before this milestone. Thankfully, Respawn Entertainment raised the level cap this season so players will earn over 400 additional Apex Packs if they reach max rank. While this takes some effort and patience, playing enough will eventually unlock Ash’s heirloom if you use Heirloom Shards; just remember to wait until after the event ends to purchase with them.
For those unfamiliar, the Sun Squad event introduces a limited-time mode called Heat Wave. Players in this mode must be mindful of the sun as it periodically flares up throughout a match, so take cover indoors if you can to avoid getting burned regardless of where they are outdoors. To prevent burns, players can obtain unique sunglasses dropped from Care Packages and/or heatshields which temporarily block out UV rays but only temporarily.
The Sun Squad event is currently available in Apex Legends across all platforms.
