Army Men Mod for Call of Duty Turns Your Battles Into Nostalgic Plastic Warfare
A mod for Call of Duty’s original campaign will enable players to play through its entirety with soldiers painted in Army Men colors in celebration of the game’s 25th anniversary.
Army Men is, of course, named after the iconic figurines of the same name and first released on PC and Gameboy Color back in April 1998. Fans of the franchise adore it for its emphasis on real-time strategy gameplay as well as its compelling plotline which saw Sarge and his soldiers caught up in a much larger conflict.
Army Men Call of Duty Mod
User Onyenacho posted the Army Men mod for Call of Duty onto ModDB and it’s set to release on April 30th. Players can customize their soldiers with the colors of their favorite army men with each side in World War 2 being color-coded for easy identification.
American soldiers will don the classic green color scheme, British troops in grey, and Russian soldiers in red.
Every day leading up to release, The Army Men Archives YouTube channel will post walkthrough installments of Call of Duty with their mod applied. The first video showcases a tutorial and Captain Foley’s training camp.
OnyeNacho notes that the mod is currently incomplete due to character models not being decompiled into Blender or 3DSMax, meaning they cannot change textures to complete it. In the meantime, files will be released separately as PK3 files so players can manually switch between campaigns.
