Destiny 2 Players Are Willing to Bet Against Iron Banner
Yes, you read that right – Destiny 2 players have chosen to play Gambit instead of Iron Banner, the competitive PVP mode. This was in response to several issues with Iron Banner such as its tedious game mode and uninteresting loot pool. On the contrary, Gambit offers many solid weapons like Trust, Servant Leader, Borrowed Time, and Dead Weight. Furthermore, this week offered double experience points for Gambit players so they could progress quickly through ranks.
Conversely, trying to progress in Iron Banner can be a frustrating endeavor. Not only are players often required to wear specific armor (or ornaments) in order to gain experience points, but the way challenges are distributed ensures that most teams consist of the same subclass types. Players often complain about Eruption game mode, which both rewards and punishes players for performing well. If you manage to go on a kill streak, your abilities will recharge faster as the cost of your position is marked for the enemy team. Furthermore, if you fail to kill any enemies within an established time limit, they’re instantly killed, ending your streak – leading to some frustrating moments — especially on larger maps in Destiny 2.
Due to this, many Destiny 2 PVP players have turned towards Gambit – a PVPVE mode which has been left largely untouched for over a year. Despite its small map pool and lack of balance changes, Gambit still provides fast matches that could potentially reward users with some fantastic gear. Furthermore, solo gamers can take advantage of Freelance matches with other solo gamers which is not available in Iron Banner.
I must confess, I wasn’t exactly surprised at this development. Destiny 2’s PVP had been struggling for some time, but The Immortal submachine gun finally put an end to them. Since its release a few weeks ago, this submachine gun has become wildly popular in The Crucible due to its impressive range, high damage output and great perk pool. So popular that both regular and Adept variants remain the most used PVP guns ever since their release.
Though I don’t expect any major repercussions from this, it is nice to see Gambit getting some recognition from its community instead of being used solely as a vehicle for Pinnacle drops each week.
