God Of War fans insist Kratos represents LGBTQ+ identity.
Since Aloy has recently been confirmed as LGBTQ+, gamers have speculated which other characters might also fall within that classification.
Given spoilers, I won’t go into detail regarding how we know Aloy is LGBTQ+; however, evidence can be seen all across the web right now; I would be amazed if it hadn’t already crossed your path somewhere on your web browsing adventure! Nonetheless, this announcement represents a win for fans alike and should not go ignored!
PlayStation users have taken to Twitter in recent days to celebrate its LGBTQ+ characters: Kieronpx tweeted out, with screenshots from The Last of Us Part II featuring Ellie and Dina as protagonists; Forbidden West features Aloy; Kratos also makes appearances!
Though Kratos has yet to come out as LGBTQ+, many fans suspect he could be. “From what Kratos tells Atreus about Atreus’ namesake (Patroclus), I can see clearly he once loved another man,” wrote @gerryndhisbeard; @cleofrom5to9 tweeted about how Kratos’ story contained admiration towards Atreus’ namesake (which would seem unlikely given Atreus is heterosexual); @plandefeld410 shared their belief;
Kratos describes Atreus of Sparta in his game as being unique from others; noting his characteristic of always maintaining a smile even under great stress, being “happy”, and his memories being comforting to some during dark periods. While not explicitly stated as romantic in nature, his memories certainly resonated strongly among some fans in that regard – something many will likely relate to his potential sexual interest since their connection could well have become romantic later down the line if one or both partners happened to be women (if bisexual for instance!).
At this stage, however, Kratos remains unknown to be an LGBTQ+ character or not; fans however do have some theories as to his sexuality – we shall have to watch this space!
