PQube Games: Space for the Unbound Developers Condemned of Withholding Leverage Grants
A Space for the Unbound Developers Toge Productions, Mojiken Studio and Publisher PQube Games have accused PQube Games of withholding money from a diversity fund to assist underrepresented developers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A lengthy statement was posted to the game’s social channels claiming that PQube used Toge Productions’ status as an Indonesian company to obtain an unknown amount from a “well-known console platform”. The money was part of a diversity initiative. Instead of giving it to developers, it added it as a recoupable minimal guarantee and used it to negotiate a higher revenue share. In March 2022, the developers discovered this and ended their contract with PQube Games. The publisher refuses to give the developers ASpace for the Unboundon consoles publishing control. The game was delayed indefinitely while the studio searched for a better publishing deal.
In a reply message, Toge Productions asked that people refrain from reviewing or bombing other games published by PQube Games. This will negatively affect developers who are not directly involved in this situation.
