Strand Tangles Are Legal Between Trials Rounds in Destiny 2
In Destiny 2, you have the ability to carry Strand Tangles between trials rounds for extra vigor.
Destiny 2 is a complex game, and sometimes new additions can have unexpected outcomes. For instance, Strand abilities introduced with Lightfall have caused several unintended side effects since then. A recent video posted to r/CrucibleGuidebook by MaximalGFX showcases one such effect: players are now able to carry Strand Tangles between rounds of Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2. As demonstrated in the clip, MaximalGFX takes one Tangle to a chokepoint, waits until an enemy team passes by it, then shoots it and wipes them all out instantly!
MaximalGFX notes that Tangles often behave in an unexpected way. Only the player who carries the ball to the next round can see and shoot at a Tangle, meaning enemy teams won’t know about it in advance. Unfortunately, picking up a Tangle drains your countdown timer which doesn’t reset after each round ends. But with practice you may be able to surprise enemy teams and score some easy round wins for dirty cheaters out there!
Bungie will likely patch this use of Tangles in Destiny 2 shortly, though it has also sparked some discussion around Seasonal Artifact perks in PVP. Specifically, those that improve Tangle detonations are the main issue here; however, anyone who played Trials this weekend likely also noticed how common Firebolt Grenades seem to be; that’s because a Seasonal Perk grants all players who equip them a free second charge regardless of whether they’re in PVE or PVP mode.
It appears that many of these benefits were designed with PVE gamers in mind, rather than considering their impact in The Crucible. Perhaps in the future Bungie will disable some artifact benefits for PVP play; until then, why not take advantage of them while everyone else does?
