Ubisoft doesn’t wish to leave players behind by ruling out an overhaul for The Division 2.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 fans who had their hopes up about an Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5 version may be disappointed to know that no new-gen release of this title has been officially ruled out by its developers…
Creative director Yannick Banchereau spoke in an interview with MP1ST about Ubisoft’s pledge of continued support for an action-RPG game called Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Banchereau answered when asked if new-gen versions would be released: “That seems unlikely given if we really took full advantage of new-generation technology… which means no longer available on older generations.
“There are still players playing across generations and we do not plan to leave them behind and ask them to upgrade,” continued the creative director.
“Currently we’re making sure each time we add something new that it still runs seamlessly on both Gen 1 and Gen 2.”
Although The Division 2 can’t leverage all the powerful consoles of its new generation, it is heartening to know the team is taking all types of players into consideration when designing and creating content for release.
Not to say The Division 2 players on more advanced consoles don’t reap some advantages from having such high-performing consoles; players on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles can experience 4K visuals as well as running at 60 FPS – definitely better than nothing!
Ubisoft currently does not appear to have any plans for The Division 3, making this even more credible as they continue supporting The Division: Resurgence due for release later in 2019. Fans should keep an eye out for updates regarding it!
