Warlocks Should Receive More Weapon-Specific Exotics in Destiny 2

Due to the sudden popularity of Hunter Exotic Lucky Pants in Destiny 2, we’ve noticed something peculiar. Hunters possess several Exotics designed to improve specific weapons – Lucky Pants and Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves come to mind; similarly Titans boast No Backup Plans, Actium War Rig, Stronghold, and Peacekeepers as powerful upgrades; yet Warlocks don’t appear to possess many similar Exotics within Destiny 2. So why don’t Warlocks feature more exotics that enhance specific weapons like these in Destiny 2?

As Warlocks are considered one of the less martial classes within Destiny 2, one could argue it makes sense that they don’t possess many Exotic armor pieces that improve specific weapon types – although this seems more like an excuse. Sure, Warlocks do possess Rain of Fire which enables them to reach Radiant status through fusion rifle kills; but that seems inadequate justification.

Hunters and Titans don’t cover every weapon type between themselves – there are Exotics available that specialize in hand cannons, bows and sidearms for Hunters; similarly Titans possess Exotics designed specifically to enhance swords, submachine guns shotguns and auto rifles for them. Warlock Exotics provide ample options.

Why not design a Destiny 2 Warlock Exotic that enhances Glaives, providing buffs to you and nearby teammates when guarding with them like buffing? Glaives seem particularly Warlock-y to us – though other possibilities also exist: Warlocks could feature pulse or scout rifle-focused Exotics instead, perhaps building into their Stormcaller identity by functioning like an Arc Rain of Fire to grant rapid precision kills with Amplified kill bonuses?

Exotic weapons that target specific weapons may seem restrictive at first, but their variety encourages unique builds and sometimes become meta options in PVE or the Crucible — like Lucky Pants in PVE or Peacekeepers in Crucible. Warlocks could benefit greatly from adding several of these exotics into their arsenal in Destiny 2 — providing even more build options! We certainly welcome more build options!
