Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Pre-Orders Are A Mess
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a long-anticipated title by Nintendo. The pre-orders for the exclusive edition of the game are now open. However, they seem to be a bit of a disaster.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Pre-Order Queues
According to Twitter users, and our personal experience, it is currently almost impossible to access the Nintendo of America page to order the Xenoblade Chronicles IIISpecial edition. Although it is unclear if this is due in part to an overwhelming amount of demand, or whether it is related to scalpers or bots, people aren’t happy with the situation. Although pre-orders were made yesterday for the game, Nintendo did not anticipate this high demand. Nintendo of America acknowledged that there was an issue, but did not offer any explanations. Given the widespread nature of the problem with restocking PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s unclear if Nintendo used any anti-scalper method.
Pre-Order Weirdness
This isn’t the only strange thing about Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Twitter has noticed that the game ships in multiple parts. According to the Nintendo Store, this is what it says:
“This special edition will be shipped in two parts
- A physical copy of the game that ships on or near its release date of July 29, 2022
- Steelbook game box, special edition box and art book, shipping fall 2022’s
This is a very unusual situation considering the lack of precedent. It’s not unusual for special editions to be sent out in separate parts after the launch. This raises logistical issues such as address changes, and how Nintendo will deal with them in the event of a problem.
