An Official WWE Role-Playing Game is Coming Soon
After the horrible WWE, I don’t think anyone expected great things from them. One of the trailers had glitches, which was a big disappointment after its notoriously buggy predecessor. It was also interesting to hear that Machine Gun Kelley and Jake Paul would become playable characters. It was hard to say who that audience was.
However, the consensus was that 2K22 is pretty good. It was released in March of this year. The PS5 version is sitting at a respectable 77 on Metacritic with a slightly lower, but still very sweet, user score of 7.4. It’s not bad at all. It’s not surprising that WWE is aiming for their next hit with this win.
According to Wrestling Inc. Stephanie McMahon (WWE chief brand officer) recently stated in a Q1 earnings conference that an official RPG was in place. She said that “We continue see strength in our mobile games with 2K and Scopely’s Supercard as well as Champions. We also recently signed a new agreement in the role-playing gaming space that will soon be announced.”
She also talked about WWE HTML2_ and stated that the team was “extremely satisfied” with the relaunch of 2K series. “Innovation is critical to the success of any media property. She stated that WWE 2K, our premium video gaming console franchise, was relaunched with great satisfaction. After taking more than a full year to improve the game engine, we worked hand in glove with our partners at Taking–Two Interactive and listened to our fans and customers. We delivered a game that exceeded their expectations.
We don’t know much about the RPG, but we will soon hear more. The chances of it being an open world adventure starring The Undertaker are low, but not zero.
