Ex BioWare Devs Roast EA for Seemingly Mocking Twitter
They accidentally offended many developers and gamers by trying to be the cool kid and became viral on TikTok. It’s not what they intended, but it happened. A Twitter edit feature could not save this.
In case you haven’t seen it, the famous tweet said: “They’re 10 but they only like single-player games.” GAMINGbible’s Mark explained yesterday that the trend they are referring to here is people calling someone a “10” (out of 10) for their personality or looks and then stating something they consider an unacceptable flaw that would affect their score. EA wants to slap anyone who likes single-player games. Uh oh.
EA’s problems are not limited to the internet. Several prominent game designers have joined the fray, roasting EA further. GamesRadar+ reported that this included several former BioWare employees.
David Gaider, the Dragon Age series writer, tweeted, “As usual, EA jumps onto a trend, misses the point, and punches itself in its face.” “Absolutely. Tone. “Deaf” was the summary of Dragon Age’s creative director, Mike Laidlaw. EA was reminded by Aaryn, BioWare’s former general manager: “You… make single-player games …”
EA is well aware of the backlash – I cringe to think how many notifications their poor Twitter users have had to scroll through. They tried to deflect the situation somewhat: “Roast well earned.” We’ll accept this L because playing single-player games makes them an 11. They wrote in another tweet. EA will remember this no matter what you say.
